Quintana Gate – Archaeology Progress

Work continues to excavate and record the archaeology on our Quintana Gate site for new student accommodation in central Exeter. The project is located on the edge of the Roman Legionary Fortress, once occupied by Legion II Augusta, commanded by the future Roman Emperor Vespasian. The archeology has yielded some fantastic finds from the medieval and Roman periods, including coins, very fine pottery, and many historic building materials such as painted wall plaster and evidence of underfloor heating from the Roman houses which were sited their during the civic period. Quintana Gate has clearly been the site of some previous high end property, and we look forward to returning it to such a position as our scheme moves forward.

Inter-practice Design Crits

We hosted a joint design crit with three other local practices, each presenting a project at pre-planning application stage.  It was really helpful to get fresh opinions and for younger staff members to practice their presentation skills in an informal setting.  A great way to end the week over a few drinks.
