Planning Permission was granted in the Spring of 2016 for eight new affordable homes at the garage site. Six 1 bedroom flats and two 2 bedroom semi-detached homes are proposed. The proposal includes the re-configuration of the road layout so that a two way road is created rather than a roundabout and the central grassed area will be improved so that it becomes an attractive, safer and usable public open space connected to the new housing. The scheme also includes the construction of a two bedroom affordable bungalow on land to the site of 22a Mitford Road, New Alresford. All of the new homes will be owned and managed by Winchester City Council and will be for rent. Construction work is anticipated to start either at the end of 2016 or early in 2017. The build period is expected to take 12 months.
