Greatham Barns

Near Pulbrough, West Sussex

Set within a Conservation Area in the South Downs National Park this project converts a group of redundant agricultural buildings into two dwellings. The site presented a number of challenges, being adjacent to a Listed Manor House in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. T2 were appointed in 2012 after previous failed attempts by others to obtain planning permission. The proposals seek to rescue with the main Grade II Listed granary barn, and to re-instate a former connection to the dairy wing in the form of a contemporary glazed link with zinc roof. The adjacent milking parlour is extended westwards with a contemporary, timber clad pod with monopitch green roof. New outbuildings for parking and stabling have also been permitted whilst the original cart sheds are to be re-built.
