Nuns Road

Winchester

A rare opportunity to remodel the rear of a pair of semi-detached Edwardian houses in the Hyde Conservation area. The attached pair of houses had both been altered and extended in the past, and had lost their original unity. Fortuitously the current owners both had similar tastes and requirements for their new extensions. T2 architects were able to design a matching pair of single storey extensions which re-instate the original symmetry of the rear elevation. The single storey extensions are of contemporary design and are clad in a mix of painted brick, in reference to the original houses, plus fibre cement cladding and green roofs. Sliding-folding doors connect the houses to their gardens whilst the roof overhang provides shade from the southerly aspect. The extensions are also complimented by a matching pair of garden studio offices.
