Stockers Rise

Winchester

A two storey front extension and alterations to an existing 1950’s property within the Teg Down area of Winchester. The triple-gabled design of the extension is simple and traditional in form, yet rationalises the front elevation of the house. The use of timber cladding, white render and aluminium framed glazing applied to the whole external envelope creates a contemporary appearance.  The entrance hall features a large, glazed central gable with a double height space.  At first floor, a generous landing serving all of the bedrooms and a shared study space enjoy the volume of the entrance hall and views down the road onto the existing trees.  Internally, the alterations improve the spatial arrangement of the rooms around the new extension and improve daylight by creating larger windows to the existing rooms.
